Hello and Welcome!
Historically, we
are generally known as OVFM - the Club has been in Orpington
since 1958, formerly as the Orpington Cine Society (OCS). Some
members have been involved
for more than 40 years, and some were not even born when the Club
began. Now we have over 60 participants, with regular attendances
of up to 40
members at our Club meetings.
These are held at 8:00PM on alternate Tuesdays at the Barnard Room, St.
Augustine’s
Church, Southborough Lane, Petts Wood, Orpington. BR2 8AT
Experience
Whether
you're an experienced film maker or have just purchased your first
video camera, you will be welcome. Our friendly crowd love
to talk “video” and are pleased to help with problems
and advice. Club films are made by groups, we run in-house competitions
for individuals and groups and all members can contribute to our annual
Newsreel of interesting events in the Bromley borough.
Shows
We hold regular Shows at St. Paul’s Church Hall, Crofton
Road, Orpington with an audience of over 100 to which friends and family are invited. We
enter
inter-club,
regional and international film festivals. Members' films often win awards at the Kent Film Festival www.kentfilmfestival.com as well as the other competitions, but we enjoy seeing all entries from experienced or novice entrants. After all, we were all beginners at one time.
We like to think that members become friends and we meet several times
a year for non-filming activities: a barbecue in summer, a
ramble, a Christmas Social evening and our Annual Dinner, usually
at the end of January.
Always friendly, there is lively divergence on editing. Several members
use Casablancas, many more swear by computer editing whilst others
edit by stopping and starting their VCRs whilst playing holiday films
through their cameras. As we always say, it isn't the equipment,
it’s
the skill of the film-maker!!

and you will want to join. For contact information, click the JOIN
